My Cemetery — guide

You run a quiet cemetery and a small funeral home. By day you help families, and at night you keep the peace. This guide shows you everything step by step.

Getting started

In this game you look after a cemetery. Families ask you to give their loved ones a dignified farewell. You take orders, dig graves and keep everything tidy. Every order pays money. At night the cemetery gets restless, so you must protect it. Don't worry. The game tells this with humor, with no scary pictures.

Start with sandbox mode. You begin with $150,000, an office, 4 graves, a lantern, a gravedigger and an undertaker.

Your first minutes

  1. Build a Morgue first. It costs $12,000. Without it you cannot accept any order. It is the only building you are missing at the start.
  2. Open the Orders panel and accept an offer for an earth grave.
  3. Speed up time. Transport brings the deceased. The undertaker prepares everything. The gravedigger digs the grave and fills it in afterwards.
  4. Before 21:00 add lanterns. Later, hire a night guard.

A first burial in an earth grave pays about $1,450. Every occupied place in the cemetery also brings $12 a day.

Controls

On a computer:

  • Space pauses and resumes time.
  • Keys 1, 2, 3, 4 change the speed: 1×, 2×, 4× and 8×.

  • Q and E rotate the camera. You can also use the right mouse button.

On a phone:

  • Tap a tile to see details or to place an object.
  • Use two fingers to rotate the view.
  • To place a row of graves, tap both ends of the row.
  • The ⟳ button rotates an object.

What you see on the screen

There is a bar at the top. On the left you see your money and daily costs. Next to it are the day, the time and a note about how many days are left until the full moon. The full moon is the night when the most monsters come out. Then come the stars, the pause button and the speed buttons.

The build bar is at the bottom. It has five tabs: Terrain, Graves, Funeral home, Defense and Decor. Next to them are the tools Select, Move, Demolish, Rotate, Undo and Redo.

How the game works

Orders

The front office takes orders from 07:00 to 19:00. An offer waits only a short while. Then it is gone.

What to do:

  1. Open the Orders panel.
  2. See which grave the family wants and by when.
  3. Click Accept. The game reserves a free grave at once.
  4. If you have no room, click Decline. It costs nothing.

To accept an order you need a morgue with a free place and a free grave. An urn needs a crematorium. An order marked “+ service” needs a chapel. An order marked “+ wake” needs a funeral parlor.

You usually have 2–3 days for a funeral. If you are late, you lose part of the pay and some reputation. Reputation is the good name of your cemetery. The higher it is, the more orders you get and the better they pay.

The path of an order

Every order goes the same way:

  1. Transport. A hearse or outside transport for $700 brings the deceased.
  2. Morgue. Here the deceased waits to be prepared.
  3. Preparation. The undertaker does this.
  4. Wake and service, if the family ordered them.
  5. Burial. The gravedigger digs the grave earlier and fills it in after the funeral.

Crypts, mausoleums and the columbarium have ready places. You do not need to dig in them.

Morgue and cold storage

The deceased cannot wait in the morgue forever. A plain morgue has 4 places and is good for a day and a half. Cold storage ($6,500) has 6 places and gives 3 days. The Freezer chamber ($14,000) has 8 places and gives 5 days. You upgrade the morgue in its window, after you click it.

If someone waits too long, you get less money and lose a little reputation. So watch the deadlines.

Kinds of graves

  • Earth grave costs $300. It is the cheapest grave.
  • Stone grave costs $1,200. It pays more and looks nicer.
  • Granite monument costs $3,500. It pays the most of the graves in the ground.
  • Family crypt costs $14,000 and holds 4 burials. It unlocks at reputation 35.
  • Columbarium costs $6,000. It has 8 places for urns.
  • Mausoleum costs $42,000. It unlocks at reputation 55.

Earth, stone and granite graves are leased for a few days. After that the family may lease the grave again. If they don't, the grave is abandoned and it gets restless there. Then select it and choose Liquidate grave (exhumation).

People in your business

You hire workers in the Staff panel. You pay once to hire, then every day at midnight.

  • Gravedigger digs and fills graves and repairs buildings.
  • Undertaker prepares the deceased and carries the coffin.
  • Priest holds services, but only from 07:00 to 20:00.
  • Hearse driver brings in the deceased. He needs a garage.
  • Gardener tends the graves and cleans up.
  • Night guard, exorcist and hunter defend the cemetery at night.

Workers get tired and scared. A tired worker is slower. Build a Break room ($3,500). Workers rest faster there.

With time a worker gains experience. Then he may ask for a raise. You have one day to answer. If you say no, the worker gets offended and may quit. From level 3 you can also send a worker to training and pick one of two specialties.

Good tips

Good defense at night

At night restless ghosts and creatures can rise from graves. Ordinary workers do not fight them. They run away or get hurt. So you need defenses.

Start with these:

  • Lantern ($450). Graves near it wake up half as often. Place it between rows of graves.
  • Night guard ($1,200). Good against zombies.
  • Exorcist ($1,600). Only he and light really hurt ghosts.
  • Crossbow tower ($5,500). The best against werewolves. Build at least two before the first full moon.

A Shrine, a Brazier, a Salt circle, a Dog kennel and an Alarm bell help too. The brazier goes out in the rain, so don't rely on it alone.

Tidiness and beauty

Soil from digging and burnt-out candles stay near the graves. Visitors and the inspector do not like them.

  • Build a Soil skip ($2,500). The gravedigger brings soil there, and a dump truck takes it away.
  • Build a Bin shelter ($1,800). The gardener carries litter there.
  • Build a Well ($1,500). The gardener and visitors use it to water flowers.

In the Decor tab you can buy trees, benches, flowers and angels. They look nice and raise your reputation.

Funeral parlor, chapel and florist

  • The Chapel ($18,000) opens orders with a service. It pays $1,000 extra.
  • The Funeral parlor ($16,000) opens the wake. It pays $800 extra.
  • The Florist ($4,000) sells candles to visitors.
  • The Hearse garage ($10,000) and a driver save you $700 on every order.

Don't build everything at once. First build what your next order needs.

The rival

On day 6 in sandbox mode a rival firm, “Charon & Son”, opens in town. From then on orders are shared between you. In the Finance panel you can see your share of the market. You can pick a price list: Discount, Standard or Premium. Premium needs reputation 50.

Tips for pros

Advertising

You start advertising in the office window. Only one runs at a time.

  • Flyers cost $600 and last 2 days.
  • Newspaper obituaries cost $2,200.
  • Radio spot costs $5,000.
  • Online campaign costs $7,000. You need an office computer for it.

The office computer

The better the computer, the more offers and the more time for a funeral. The levels are: notebook and phone, laptop ($1,800), office computer ($4,500) and CRM system ($9,500).

Towers, salt and fences

An iron fence stops zombies. Leave a gap in it, because people cannot walk through a fence either. Put a brazier or a salt circle there. A salt circle slows monsters and lasts for 3 hits. Then you renew it for $60. Werewolves and vampires jump over the fence. Against them you need towers and light.

Who hurts whom

Every monster has its weak spots.

  • Zombie: almost everything hurts it, except lanterns.
  • Ghost and banshee: the exorcist, shrine, lantern and salt. The guard and the tower do not hurt them.
  • Werewolf: the crossbow tower is best.
  • Vampire: it fears the light of a lantern, a shrine and a brazier the most.
  • Skeleton knight: the crossbow tower is best.

If you have two exorcists, train them in different specialties. Then one is better against ghosts and the other against vampires and werewolves.

The inspector

Every few days an inspector comes from the town. He checks damage, unrest in graves, paths, light, deadlines and beauty. At 85 points or more you get a bonus and a certificate. Below 60 points you get a fine. Before the visit you can pay $800 for a general clean-up.

Events

Events happen in the game: All Saints' Day, a storm, thick fog, flu, a VIP funeral and more. On All Saints' Day four times as many guests come. In a storm the lanterns go out. A generator for $1,200 keeps them on. Rain slows digging, and the dead are more restless then.

Campaign

The campaign has 8 scenarios. Each has a ready cemetery, a budget, goals and a day limit. When you finish one, the next unlocks. You get stars for goals: the first for reaching the goals in time, the next ones for extra conditions.

  1. Graveyard by the Woods (10 days). A calm start. Build a morgue and a chapel.
  2. First Full Moon (8 days). Survive the first full-moon night.
  3. All Saints' Day (12 days). Crowds and an inspector will come.
  4. Fire and Ash (14 days). Build a crematorium and a columbarium.
  5. Night of the Living Dead (15 days). The full moon comes every third night.
  6. The Count's Family (18 days). Crypts, services and VIP funerals.
  7. The Necromancer (20 days). From night 6 a boss comes. Beat him with exorcists.
  8. Necropolis (30 days). Big grounds and a grand finale.

In the campaign the morgue stands from the start. New buildings unlock with later scenarios. A padlock on a card tells you when it opens.

Besides the campaign there is the Daily Challenge. Every day at midnight a new one appears, the same for all players. You get 3–5 days for it.

Watch out

Common mistakes

  • No morgue. Without it you cannot accept an order.
  • Lanterns too late. Place them before 21:00 and don't wait for the full moon.
  • Many workers but no defense. Ordinary workers do not fight. Hire a guard or an exorcist.
  • Forgetting deadlines. A late order means a penalty and less reputation.
  • An alarm bell without a plan. Hidden workers do not dig graves. With tight deadlines that hurts.
  • A fence with no gap. People cannot get through a fence either.

When you run out of money

Nothing bad happened yet. The game does not end at once. If at midnight you owe more than $15,000 for 3 days in a row, the business goes bankrupt. Then let go of workers you don't need, demolish buildings you don't use and take cheap orders. In sandbox mode you get a choice: a rescue loan, a fresh start or playing on with the debt.

When something goes wrong

Made a mistake while building? Click Undo. The button works for up to 30 seconds after the action, and only on the same day. You get all your money back. Demolishing returns half the price.

FAQ

Where should I begin in sandbox mode?

Build a morgue for $12,000. Then accept your first order for an earth grave and add a few lanterns. Before the first full moon hire a guard and build two towers.

What is the full moon and when does it come?

The full moon is the night when the most monsters come out. In sandbox mode it comes every 7 nights. You can see how many days are left on the top bar. In the campaign it sometimes comes more often.

How much do I earn from one funeral?

It depends on the grave. An earth grave pays about $1,450, a stone grave about $2,900 and a granite one about $5,100. An urn pays about $2,150, a crypt about $9,600 and a mausoleum about $19,200. Higher reputation raises these sums.

Why do the dead wake up at night?

In the game, graves can be restless. Unrest grows day by day, especially at neglected graves, on a full moon, in rain and in fog. A gardener lowers it. Light helps too.

Which worker matters most at the start?

The gravedigger and the undertaker, because you already have them. Then hire a gardener to clean up and a guard for the night. Add a priest and a driver when you build a chapel or a garage.

What does reputation do?

Reputation is a number from 0 to 100. A higher one brings more orders, pricier graves and more visitors. It grows with funerals and a nice cemetery. It drops a little every night, so you must keep it up.

Can I save my game?

Yes. The game has 6 save slots and autosave. You can also export a save to a file. You do not need to create an account.

Is the game for kids?

The recommended age is 12+, but the game is calm and full of humor. There is no blood in it. Younger kids play best together with a grown-up.
